I have always wanted to be able to visit each of my students' homes. A lofty notion, I know. However, after reading this book, I see the importance of this endeavor. I want to rekindle that hope and try to make it happen.
I can understand the importance of students seeing relationships being built. I know that this task will be difficult, but home connection will not only get the students on my side, but also the parents. Once connections are made, I like the idea presented by Kunjufu about having monthly, or maybe by semester, classroom potluck dinners to keep the parents informed and answer questions they may have.
